November 9, 2017I just bought a 2003 PT Cruiser GT turbo model. I almost didn`t buy it due to excessive engine noise. This car is loud!!! It`s so loud that you have to turn the radio very high just to hear it. I downloaded an app that measures decibles. On a 20 min ride home, with no radio, no windows open, the car averaged 72 db and topped out at 82 db. OSHA says you need hearing protection at 85 db. The engine seems to be running well and normal and the previous owner said he doesn`t notice, he`d gotten used to it. But there will be no conversations while driving this car, no audio books, no talk radio. Is this normal for the GT turbo edition? It`s dual exhaust if that matters. Thanks.

November 26, 2017Since you say it is dual exhaust - that points out your problem. The PT never came with dual exhaust, all dual exhaust is after-market. Some sold were louder than others - you got a loud one.
