December 15, 2003Has anyone heard of a "Tornado". Its a piece that goes in the stock intake to create more of an funnel effect. Has anyone seen one or heard about it.

December 15, 2003Yeah, it's "snake oil" - not worth it - unless it's free. It claims more power and mileage - tests don't show any gain.
December 15, 2003That's what I've heard too. Save your money for something Sparkly!
December 16, 2003Well there is also and other piece that does the same thing I heard about from my club members. Not the tornado but something different and shows changes in there gas mileage.

The forums there have giving me some good advice on three parts Im interested in. Throttle spacer, intake and dual exhaust. So far I know that the Throttle body spacer is a waste of money, the intake system (best on market) only provides 5 more horseys, and the BTG exhaust has a "Y" connect with provides even flow over the pipes .

Is it a throtttle body spacer?
December 16, 2003No it is not a throttle body spacer. Its a piece that goes somewhere in the front of the spacer near the front of the intake box (stock). It has a fan looking piece to it but as if the fan had stopped. It also creates a funnel effect and have heard from 3 members at the club that it improves gas mileage. I drive on average 200 a week approx. and I fill once a week. Would like to get more gas mileage.
I have read that thread and many others that mention about no real gain except maybe some gas mileage but I don't think for 100 bucks that 3 miles to the gallon are worth it. If it was 15 either way then maybe, 15 as is or 15 miles for 100. Thanks for you help
February 27, 2004I do not know if the Tornado will give you better gas mileage but I do know that after I made my own Tornado for less than $2.00 I got better performance out of that OEM Air box mod. I know that air will move faster in a vortex and will go through bent tubing better.
February 28, 2004Welcome Mr Tee - got your email, also. True, a vortex helps aiflow but can you induce a vortex in 2" ? - I'm more than skeptical. Sounds more like a throttle body spacer, also of limited benefit. - My opinions.
March 1, 2004Mr Tee,
I have seen your pics looks like something of some valve to alot of us with some time on our hands.
