January 22, 2005you might try www.ptdiy.com they have a ton of Info there that might help.
January 23, 2005Back ones are easy. Just jack the car and you should be able to slip it in. The fronts need a spring compressor and be careful because if one gets away it will cause damage to the car or you. You will have to have the front alignment checked, too. I wouldn't mess with them, especially the front ones unless you know what you are doing.
January 23, 2005The back springs I did my self, but had the front springs and alignment checked for me. You may need to get offset strut-to-steering knuckle bolts as I did to get your alignment within specs.
Note: The rear coil springs don't have a top or bottom. So make sure the pigtail at the top of the right-side coil spring points towards the front of the vehicle, and the pigtail at the top of the left-side coil spring points towards the rear of the vehicle.
January 24, 2005Welcome.
I Agree the rears are easy, suggest you have fronts done and alignment checked.
To do the rears I used a floor jack on a 4x6 on rear beam axle (the 4x6 was to distrubute the weight of the car so I wouldn't bend the axle). Put jackstands on both sides, both wheels off. Unbolt shocks, lower rear axle & springs lift right out.
January 24, 2005Ok thanks for the info everybody. Its helped alot but my next question is why is the front springs so hard to put on?
January 24, 2005There easy if you know what your doing, took me about 2 hours to do the front. If ya got some mechanical aptitude and the right tools you should be alright.Just pay attention to how everything comes out.
January 25, 2005Fronts require a spring compressor because they are struts - the shock and spring are 1 unit. Also, you can effect the alignment. Best to have someone with you who's done it before if you tackle it yourself.
