So many people come on these forums thinking old school. What was good back then is not necessarily good or even needed for today's cars. Except for the crappy OEM wires the PT ignition system is more than adequate for the car and a whole lot better than yesterday's old school systems. Fortunately, there are those of us who have learned about today's cars, think outside the box and spend our money more wisely.
November 27, 2006I have Nology wires and really like them. I had an anoying miss at idle that neither Magnecor wires or Champion platinum plugs would remove. The Nology wires did the trick; and the PT also pulls easier from low down in 5th gear.
Basically, the Nology wires are a capacitor ignition system. These systems have been around for a long time. I first used one in 1967 on a Shelby Mustang. Unfortunately, it failed in about 15K miles. This was a frequent complaint in those days about capacitor ignition systems.
Nology has been around for a while. I used them on a '90 Eagle Talon running 17 psi boost with good success for almost 100K miles. It may be that capacitors are of better quality now, and/or the fact that Nology uses individual capacitors in each ignition wire that contributes to longivity.
March 11, 2007Yeah I have the Nology Hotwires in my PT, and they are great. I have a lot os mods in my car, and the wires was one of the best ones so far
