October 8, 2005I have heard that using bug n tar removers of sorts would get rid of the black lettering decals that dealers put on the far back door of almost EVERY cruiser they sell. But I would like other opinions on this, the signage in question is all separate black letters n not one big sticker. They are also not glossy, which means to me that the right solvent wud take 'em out quick. I refuse to run a razor blade up the paint, an I don't want to use some lame a** chemical that will eat up the clearcoat either. An my PT was located n brought up to my dealership from another city n they still put that stuff on there. I want it OFF! My dealership is very good to me, but my back door is not a billboard of any kind. And this signage even has toyota on it, so it really must go. Any knowledgable advice wud be greatly appreciated.
October 8, 2005Is it something a hair dryer would take off? you could try some prep all.You can get that at a auto paint store, safe 4 clear coat.Hope that will help..Silverdream
October 8, 2005The one on my yellow car was just a black vinyl graphic...just peeled it off. I removed all the badging on my 01 PT with the hairdryer and dental floss.
October 8, 2005I also used a hair dryer (medium setting) and dental floss to remove all of the badges. I removed the double sided glue on the paint with Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover. It has wax in it, too, so it shined up at the same time.
October 9, 2005Thanx for the input. The regular badges(PT cruiser, Touring ed. etc) are fine, besides, they're CHROME, just the dealer logo's gotta go. It's one of those iron-on looking things. Once that's gone, it'll look damn skippy! I'll post a pic of it here b4 I get rid of it too. Gotta see wot method I'll need to get that one off.
October 9, 2005I removed all of mine while the car was hot. then used wax to remove the film an you will never know they were on.
October 10, 2005Also, if there's some stickiness left over, you can use goo-gone. It works good but you have to let it sit a while. It removes a little at a time, maybe the bug and tar stuff will work better. Never used it before.
October 11, 2005Hell yea!! Got rid of the stupid dealer stickers, they came off with just my fingernail, never thought it would be that easy. I then used some of the chemical stuff that Race and Street sends with any purchase to clean up the gunk. All PT's look better without those advertisements anyway. This one looks sooooo much better!
October 13, 2005Wow, that was HUGE. Also, you can tell it used to say Chrysler * Plymouth and they just cut off the Plymouth, because the Chrysler is offset to the left....
October 13, 2005Actually it said Chrysler * Toyota, as the dealerhip sell those an Scions too. So in my mind, it REALLY had to go!! I've bought every car I've owned from there, all chrysler products, no less, and they are very decent towards me. But my back door is still not a billboard.
