March 9, 2006I'd like a diesal, then I would make my own fuel. Easy and very cheap
March 9, 2006After a month or so now I've discovered that I get better performance and mileage with 89 Octane, but that's with both intake and exhaust mods.
March 9, 2006I use freshly squeezed potatoes!!!
April 2, 2006Hey, if it's designed to run on regular 87 then you're wasting $$$ on higher octane. I always put in the cheapest, but I only use synthetic oil (not a blend) & I have a K&N air filter. Now in Europe the PT was available with a diesel engine (a Mitsubishi I think) now why don't they offer that here?
April 3, 2006I agree w/Hawgdoctor - I read somewhere (Popular Mechanics?) that using an octane higher than your engine calls for gives no benefit.
As a kid, I put high test in the lawnmower, thinking it would boost it up, but it actually ran worse, because higher octane gas is actually harder to ignite...
April 3, 2006I run regular (87) most of the time...too much $$$ for the others and my car doesn't get any better milage or preformance from the higher grade. Maybe because mine is not turbo. But with the gas prices reaching $3.00 again...I paid $2.85 for regular this morning...ouch!!
April 3, 2006At most stations around me, the ethanol blend cost the same as 87 an is usually 89 or 90 octane, but the high end stuff is way too much for me 2. $2.49 vs. $2.60
April 3, 2006I messed around with a couple of tanks of 87 again, and my mpg went down. Bear in mind I have modified intake and exhaust. I went back to 89 again. Get about 20.5 mpg. Problem here is also that now I'm running the AC full time....so I need to adjust and test with that in the picture as well. Jury is still out.
April 10, 2006I actually gave my car a shot with 102 octane. It wasnt that mucha difference really. worked like it worked b4 with like 90. 102 wont do nething if you dont have mods.
April 11, 2006B-12 is good. I sell alot of it at my work. But I use Lucus Injector cleaner every oil change. Good stuff. Also their oil additive is great. As for octane.....go with the octane rateing stated in your manual. Unless you start playing with your engine. Then use whatever octane that dosn't make you ping.
