May 5, 2006is there really a difference between the two strut tower braces out there for the GT model. one has two bolt connection the other has three....does it make that big of a difference overall? besides in price apparently. anyone out there have one of these installed , what's your opinion.

May 6, 2006The one from BTG is solid, fairly easy to install, looks good and really improves the handling. That's what I have, and I think it's great.
May 6, 2006I have a no-name brand from Race & Street. Comes in Yellow or chrome. I had mine painted. It only uses two of the strut bolts on each side to secure it but is rock solid and does the job.
May 7, 2006You can get a Freedom Design style brace on EBay for $23. It will fit the GT but you will have to cut a notch in the solenoid bracket for the bar to pass thru. Thats why the GT brace is $50 higher than the n/a it inludes a new bracket.

May 10, 2006Look back at the pix that Crewzin posted. See how the bar is bolted to a seperate mount (painted black)? That's the Freedom bar. Well made.
That eBay bar is welded as one piece and advertised as "light weight" (read - "thinwall tube"). Bend yourself a coathanger and save yourself $23 and big shipping costs if you want "light weight".
May 10, 2006Also - on Non-turbos with the vanity cpover - look for ones with thru-bolts at the ends like the 2 in the pics in this thread - the bar will prevent you getting the vanity cover off. Just loosen on bolt, take out the one at the other end, and the bar swings up out of the way - get a one-piece, and you have to unbolt off the shock tower - not a good idea as those bolts are "fragile" (can't take much torque).
