The intakes you see for $5.99 make up for the price in high shipping charges. They all work out about the same. The more expensive intakes block off the hot air from the engine by surrounding the filter in some sort of box or at least a shield that helps prevent hot air entering the filter element. All of the aftermarket air intakes work better than the OEM fitering system because they all allow more air into the throttle body. Also, they all make more "noise" as the air passes through the intake tube without any noise restrictors. The "noise" I'm referring to soumds good to a lot of us, but if your looking for quiet, stick with the OEM system with a better filter and removal of the "white dounuts" in the air pathway.
With any of these systems you'll notice a better response of the engine when you put your foot down.
One more thing.
