June 10, 2006You have the best cold air intake for the GT .on it now, just mod it, an enjoy, an save the moey to buy outher mods.
remove the two silencers in the airbox. The white doughnut in the top and cutting the silencer in the bottom of the airbox (that's connected to the snorkle) flush with the inside of the box. The snorkle still remains to draw in cold air. The turbo to airbox hose has a silencer in it that narrows down to 1 1/2". If you are handy you can make your own pipe or I know a guy who sells them.
I took mine off the box an put it back togeather an cut it with a hack saw, an installed back into the air box.
July 18, 2007i do not drive a turbo but i also made this modification to my intake (removing white silencer)....what i was wondering was as the silencer is smaller, does it restrict airflow or does it create a venturi, which would increase airflow
July 18, 2007Just quiets the intake noise down by hampering air flow a bit.
July 18, 2007Does it do any good for the N/A? increase power at all or just sound more cool?
July 18, 2007also just re-routed where my intake gets its air from, i just took an old vacume cleaner hose, attached it to the snorkel then ran it down to the spot next to the fog lights, it fits nice and tight so its not going anywhere, i put a screen over the end to prevent large debris from getting in, drove around a while to test it.....the cool air really helps maintain a low temp under the hood....i can place my hand on the intake now when before it would burn my hand if i touched it...now its just warm, and it makes the same hissing noise a turbo would make, and it doesn't effect the deeper engine noise i got by removing the silencer
