November 27, 2006Hello everyone,
The 39 Studabaker Truck/Rod photos featured in my gallary are sold as a kit by Wilder Street Rods. The body is based on a one off concept vehicle designed, and built in 2001 by Rick Hanson of Master Street Rods. The first generation concept truck "Blown Grape" was featured in the October 2001 issue of Truckin Magazine. Unfortunataly Master Street Rods went bankrupt, and in a heated legal battle the truck came up missing. It has been rumered to have made a brief appearance at the renouned Barrett Auction, but has since vanashed from sight.
Wilder Street Rods has picked up where Rick Hanson, and Master Street Rods left off, and are now producing the fiberglass body kit on a retail basis. The body is based on the Chevrolet S series pick-up rolling chassis, and is intended to utilize cleen lines, and custom feel of a high end street rod, with the functionality of a daily driver. The team at Wilder can custom biuld one for anyone for a cost of around $25,000 complete.
Now, buried somewhere in the PTCW gallary archives is a photo gallary showing a PT front end grafted onto a Chevy S-10 Blazer. If the body lines are close, it might be possible to adapt the 39 front end to fit a Cruiser as is without much modification. If it would work, it would offer a completely new look for the Cruiser, and a fully funtional fiberglass tilt front end. Thought it might be interesting, and worth mentioning.
