February 28, 2007FYI I finally got around to replacing our OEM Goodyears with 24K miles on them. They were not very good in winter/wet conditions.
We have the 04 GT model with 205/50/17's. After checking tire rack and reading some notes from forums. I went with the Continental Conti Pro Contacts V speed rated. These are identified as a Grand Touring Tire.
Since these are not a high end performance tire I do notice a little less responstivess on express way exits. However, these are much quiter riding and I do not feel as much going over the little bumps in the road.
Braking feels better as well as overall control. We had some ice/sleet and rain mix in Maryland a week ago. These did much better than the Goodyears which were getting down right scarey.
I bought them at a local tire dealer and paid $645.00 OTD. Tire Rack has these for $115 each plus shipping. With taxes/install balance, I probably ended up paying approx. $50-65 more by having them order and install.
Hope this helps anyone looking for what appears to be a good tire.
