No worries. Even though I have rebuilt a VWBug from the ground up (including all the wiring, changing Trannies, engine rebuild, etc.) I was still pretty nervous. Ideally, I would have preferred to tap into the existing wiring, but running the wires was no problem. The challenge of course was getting through the firewall, but with the handy little plate cover Chrysler provides, it was no problem. After mounting the lights, but before running through the firewall, I tested the lights to make sure they worked and made sure they looked like I wanted. Then I unbolted the plate, ran the wires and temporarily hooked up the switch and tested again. Once I was sure it was a keeper, I finished off the wiring. The wiring for my kit did not provide for a solution to turn off the power when no key was in the ignition, something I will look at later and try to mod. With the lighted toggle switch, so far I have been able to remember to turn it off.
Since I did not have factory fogs, I really thought tapping into the existing harness was possible, and I still think it should be. If anyone out there comes up with a solution for that...I'd love to see it.
